The Organization for Youth Empowerment (OYE) is seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and creative member of the team to lead OYE's development, communications, and volunteer programs/strategies. The Development Coordinator will join a small team of Honduran staff members and youth coordinators in El Progreso, Honduras. OYE is a young but growing organization that impacts several hundred youth per year through its programs.
Position Description
The Development Coordinator of the Organization for Youth Empowerment (OYE), based in El Progreso, Yoro, Honduras, will be responsible for the following activities:
- Assist in the development and expansion of OYE’s presence and programs in Honduras, with a special focus on fundraising, partnership and outreach activities.
- Lead and implement fundraising efforts and plans for the OYE office, including grant writing, research and analysis of new funding opportunities, special events management and coordination of international cooperation and fundraising efforts with OYE’s Executive Board in the United States.
- Coordinate OYE’s volunteer program, which includes recruiting interns and volunteers (individuals and groups), supervision as required, and approving plans of operation.
- Manage partnership with OYE’s key funding partners inside and outside of Honduras.
- Conduct outreach to expand OYE’s network of support in the private, public and social sectors inside and outside of Honduras.
- Lead the development of OYE’s marketing materials and strategy. Includes coordinating production of website campaigns, quarterly newsletter, videosand other promotional materials.
- Maintain and strengthen social media strategy and online presence.
- Co-design business models for long-term revenue generation.
- Assume additional leadership responsibilities, according to need.
- Report to OYE's Executive Director (Marisol Fuentes) with advisory support from OYE's Fundraising Committee.
Professional Experiences and Skills
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, International relations or related field, required. Upper-level degree a plus.
- 2 years of experience in the social sector, required.
- Advanced levels of fluency and proficiency in English and Spanish.
- Ability to translate orally from English to Spanish and Spanish to English.
- Ability to translate in written form from Spanish to English.
- Advanced level of writing skills. Experience in grant writing a plus.
- Work experience in development, communications and fundraising, preferred.
- Outstanding administrative and organizational skills.
- Understanding of donor policies, priorities and trends, preferred.
- Strong analytical and strategic skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, working with both virtual and on-site team members.
- A proven track record of successful fundraising, preferred.
- Experience managing partnerships with executive professionals in business environments, preferred.
- Fluency in the full Microsoft Office suite and the capacity to leverage technological tools to drive goals.
- Creativity, flexibility and ability to work amidst adversity and constantly changing environments.
- Experience working with marginalized populations, especially youth, in developing country contexts, preferred.
- Website, graphic design, and social media experience, preferred.
